Lieven Verraest holds a master’s degree in Textile Engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium. He has 32 years of experience in the textile industry. His core competences are mainly in the dyeing and finishing area, although he has in-depth practical knowledge in spinning, weaving, knitting, garment manufacturing and marketing.

Apart from technical and management experience at a senior level, he has operated as a consultant for more than 20 years, including leading the Werner team responsible for the restructuring of the Public Textile Sector in Egypt and many start-ups and restructuring projects in the Mid-East, Africa and Asia.

The biennial COTTON USA™ Summit is hosted by Cotton Council International and the U.S. cotton industry in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Services (FAS).
